What hypocrites!!! They just awarded the bid for turn out equipment after only getting one bid. The last time they only got one bid they rejected the bids saying that wasn't enough competition. I guess that is only important when they are trying to keep someone they have a vendetta against from getting work.
Mr. Bertino just reported that the school would be paying $120,000 per year for 13 years to reaquire the middle school property. That means they are repaying the entire $1.2 million which includes the pump station. What the hell does the Board of Education need the pump house for? This agreement needs to be changed so that the school only buys back the fields!!!
Again Rocky was given an opportunity to put the safety of the people of Hammonton first. All he had to do was apologize for making false accusations and he refused to do so. No matter whether you agree with the ideology of a group or not, it doesn't give you the right to accuse them of anything without just cause. That's what he should apologize for. He made a mistake, he should be man enough to acknowledge his error and save the people of Hammonton from this uneccessary dangerous situation.
The Rescue Squad is not a Town of Hammonton Department anymore because they are a for profit business...
1. They do not have members, unless your boss @ your job calls you a member... they have employees.
2. Their "chief" makes over 65k per year.
3. They are not volunteer
4. Unless they are gonna give South Jersey Laundry, Marinella Funerial Home, and every other business in hammonton free discount JIF insurance why should they get it !!!!???
Colasurdo wants a tax increase! He announced tonight he has switched the the Republican Party. What is this guy insane? The people of Hammonton cannot afford the tax increase that he and Bertino are pushing!
I thought the best moment was of course Sam Mento speaking up. Why is that only the Democrats speak up and the Republicans just sit back? It was obvious that Rocky can't work with the chief even he admitted that he hadn't talked the chief and depended solely on the input of the #2 and #3 guys. The Democrats are right saying that RC and the mayor should resign from the Law and Order Committee. Is anyone in HF even telling RC at least that he should step down? it seems like common sense to me for the good of the community.

Rocky's switched to the Republican Party so he and Jimmy Bertino can raise taxes. They are crazy to think that we can afford that. The Democrats need to speak out against tax increases in favor of working families.
We were disappointed that the Republicans said nothing in support of or in reply to Sam Mento's statement at the Council meeting. This was an opportunity to join with the Democrats and support the people of Hammonton and once again the Republicans sat back and said nothing.
Once again the Democrats had the courage to say what everyone is thinking. Sam Mento is right. Rocky and the Mayor should resign from the Law and Order committee. Why didn't the Republicans make a motion to hold Rocky and the Mayor responsible for the cost of the chief's trial? Mento and the Demsare right. The tax payers of Hammonton should not have to pay fora personal vendetta against the chief! Great job Sam and the Democrats... you guys have your fingers on the pulse of the town!!!

Why would you expect the Republicans to support Sam Mento's statements? Now that Rocky has switched over to the Republican Party, they aren't going to critisize him.
With Rocky switching to the Republicans and giving thema 4-3 majority, will they keep to the zero tax increase or turn against the Hammonton taxpayers and raise taxes. The voters will be able to see if the Democrats stand up for them and come out against a tax increase or if they sit by and silently endorse Bertino and Colasurdo's tax and spend agenda.
Why are we discussing a "for-profit" organization wanting to join the town's insurance? Do they not (rescue squad) charge for their services, whether it be transportation, emergency treatment & transportation, etc. If they are having trouble meeting their financial obligations (my opinion only), then they need training in fiscal management. Very simply put, if your debt service is more then profits, then you cut waste (ie: high salaries, etc). One does expect to make a profit in business, but the first rule is that the business should pay for itself !!! not to continually keep the business in debt only to satisfy a few ego's & pocketbooks !!!!!!!

Somebody has to help the working people of this town. We cannot afford the tax increase that the Republicans and Rocky Colasurdo are pushing. The Democrats need to show they can stand up and speak out against this tax increase! This is the issue they can win on!
The Democrats have to stand up for the middle class. The Republicans promised a tax decrease and now they want to raise taxes! The Democrats have to demand no more taxes!
