NJ Transit Bus Stop Relocated
Permalink

In a Town that is doing all it can to attract customers to our downtown area, it seems starnge that we would request NJ Transit to eliminate the downtown bus stop. The bus used to stop right in the center of Town, thereby dropping potential customers for our downtown businesses right by their establishments. Town council requested and NJ transit has complied with moving the bus stop to Egg Harbor Road decreasing the potential profits for much of our downtown business people.

When will Mayor an council uncork their heads from their behinds and do something that makes sense.

Look around at south Jersey towns.  They are all trying to get people in their downtown areas to spend money.  Only Hammonton is trying to get public transportation users away from the down town.

I understand trying to keep traffic off of 54, but not at the expense of public transportation and the downtown shop owners.

I can only assume that Mayor and council chose to act on this ludicrous request because of congestion, in that case, why not try to find alternate routes for trucks (non delivery) instead???

How come the Democrats are the only ones that make sense???

This move was not in response to congestion, this was because ONE shop owner didn't want that "type" of people hanging around in front of their store. First they force the previous owner out of their business and take it over, then they aren't happy with the clientel they have. That's why no one shops there and everyone should continue to stay away from that business. They don't want the average Hammontonian shopping there anyway. I'll take the extra couple of minutes to go out to the pike to get my cards.

I guess the beautiful people and Lord Jim Donio don't want the type off poeple who can't afford a six hundred dollar a month car payment to be shopping in there card store.  When they turned the benches the wrong way and saw the undesirables looking in they moved the bus stop.  Now Gabe can walk downtown carrying his Mommy's purse without seeing the lower class bus riders.  Don't worry Mommy's purse can hold a lot of newspapers and greeting cards.  Those kids will be just fine.  I hope their Daady doesn't come after me.

I think not wanting minorities who are mainly casino workers who live near downtown to take the bus right in the heart of downtown sends minorities the wrong message or is the message the right one- we don't want you here- go elsewhere, we don't want to see you.

Why does Hammonton First think they are above eveyone else?  How many minorities does the HF leadership employ?  It is OK to work on their farms, but it isn't OK for them to catch a bus downtown?

I think if Hammonton First could that they would easily just make sure no NJ Transit buses come into town.  Many downtowns aren't fortunate enough to have a bus that goes into their downtown and train station.  Especially since there is limited parking, you'd think public transit would pay an important role in downtown revitalization.

Look at what a loser Jim MacLane is. He can't even spell. It's amazing this clown was on the school board. He's a fool.

I think BUST stop is appropriate. Our downtown is going BUST.  The downtown businesses are closing or relocating to the WHP and Rasperry Run.  So I guess downtown really is a Bust Stop.

Your comments are very childish.  When are you going to growup and stop being such a baby?  It's really embarrassing that there are people like you in town.  You hate Hammonton and you hate everyone.  I guess you didn't have a good father figure. If you did, you'd know how to act like a gentleman.

Didn't we just have a big drug bust a fwe doors down from the police station? That is crime gone out of control. Why the heck would anybody want a bus stop downtown? What do they want more people to come and buy drugs? That's a stupid idea like the kind George Bush would come up with! We need change in this town. Hammonton needs to move to the Democrats who would eliminate this craziness!

Moving the bus stop probably was a good idea.

It's ironic that we spend thousands in grants to promote Mainstreet while we don't want to make it easier for people from out of town to shop in our downtown area.  The downtown needs more people actually window shopping and actually going downtown.  With municipal parking downtown being limited you'd think we'd want to encourage more even local Hammontonians to use public transportation to go to events like the carnival, downtown festivals, etc.  I think there's no coincidence that as soon as the ownership of some downtown businesses changed to some Firsters that this came about.

The Chief even wants the government to seize the building under drug laws.
