It took a little begging and pleading but the Republicans on Council were able to convince the NJ Department of Agriculture to put us back on the list of municipalities who will participate in the Gypsy Moth Suppression Program. Many calls were made and since a lot of the planes will be flying out of Hammonton airport anyway the State agreed to let us back in the program. The Republicans heard what the public wanted, they heeded all of those who signed the petitions, and they acted as the town wished. Plus we are also getting the partial reimbursement from the State so it will not cost us as much as we thought it might. The extra effort paid off and not taking no for an answer brought us rewards. It's a shame Tracy Petrongolo did not think it was worth the extra effort.
Although I hate the way NJ forces local governments to make decisions very hastily with regards to taxpayer funds ("take it or lose it"), I want to thank Jerry Vitalo, Jim Bertino & Anthony Marino for going the extra mile and securing this funding for the spraying.
Good Job researching the spraying and trying to come to the right decision given very little time to properly research the expense.
I'm not sure you could say that we weren't given enough time to do the proper research and make an informed decision. The town received notice of this program in December and discussed it at the December 17th council meeting. We didn't have to give our answer until February 8th.
Good things the Democrats made this an important issue. Thanks to those who pushed to have the Republicans and Hammonton First to reverse their position on this. So yes, thank you Jerry for fixing your mistake.
Why did Hammonton First vote against spraying for the Gypsy Moth? I don't think they care about the environment or the trees. Why did they also vote to get rid of the Shade Tree Commision? Can it be that Hammonton First is looking to set up easier ways to overdevelop Hammonton to fill there own pockets?
Thanks to the Council people who voted to spray to help slowdown the Gypsy Moth problem in Hammonton.

I found out last night that the Environmental and Shade Tree Commission Chairpersons knew absolutely nothing about the plans to abolish the Shade Tree Commission. Does Hammonton First speak to their appointees (other than FOC) at all or are they merely listening to their Donors? I also find the resignations by members of MUAC very questionable? Doesn't anyone see what Hammonton First is doing?
All the people posting here need to get active with the Democratic Party here in Hammonton. They are having a meeting on April 8. Everyone should attend and help them shape Hammonton's Future. The Democrats' letters have convinced me to go.
If you can't attend, then you should email them at info@hammontondems.org. I also hear they are having a brunch on Apr. 6. I am sure they could send you information on this too.
I am excited with what the Dems are doing this year and I want to be a part of their team.
Went to city hall today. Not by choice. Why is it, that all the spots that are taken in front are town owned cars or people who work in town hall.
So seriously... for your 7 hour work day, every day off ever. Which includes Good Friday and Easter Monday and your free car to use that my tax paid for.... you cna walk a block so i dont have to.
Really, that extra 5 minutes... its not a big deal for me. no problem.
What a joke. And dont tell me there is no parking. Put them somewhere, just not right in front where the actual real people need to go when going to city hall.
How lazy are they...
And before one of these people gets on here...
Fine, ill give the cops a pass, becasue they dont park on the street. Except the unmarked cars, they should move.
Second, dont cry for me about where city hall is and there is no parking. its already built. you lost deal with it. lets move on.......

But we'll worry about gymsy moths.
So what's your point. Whether or not town employees park in front of town hall. That's your major issue? If the town hall was built elsewhere then this wouldn't be your top concern then. Most people's main concern is that now there will be less parking than ever before. So like you would agree there's no place for taxpayers to visit town hall or citizens to go to the post office.
Actually my point is... Town Employees think they are special. When in reality they are overpaid, in some cases under qualified, and in all cases have this sense of entitlement that makes me want to throw up.
I dont care where city hall is. If it were up to me they would have had a drive through so I would not have to complain about who parks where.
I guess the question that must be asked is : are these cars going to continue to take up all the parking spots. by my count there are : one tax collector three unmarked cop cars, shhhhhhhhh? don't tell anyone the are unmarked. two construction office and two fire dept. trucks parked in front of town hall most of the time . plus the rest of the employees who don't get a car to drive around in. at the very least without the marked cop cars and the highway dept, water dept, sewer dept. and whoever drives the fancey blue ford pick up there will 8 cars parked in the new lot. wow. maybe hf should cut out some of them . I guess my point is where will they park.

Oh, I get it!!!!!!!! You're trying to promote having to buy more land for parking while at the same time putting down town employess. Very clever! I wonder who owns the land near town hall maybe they can help out and donate their land for free.
Nothing would have happened on this is the Democrats did not speak out. We have had enough with the Republicans. They have done nothing to stand up against HF. We need to vote in true leaders like the new Democratic slate.
