The Vine has received a copy of expenditures attributed to the construction of the new town hall. Click here to see the breakdown. The report shows that the total spending reported so far is $6.5 million dollars and there are more bills to pay, including the site work and construction of the parking lot, landscaping and exterior lighting, the construction of a community center, and whatever other bills are not paid yet.
We already know that the renovation of the lake house to become a community center is estimated at $400,000. If that comes in on budget, the price of this project is already at $6.9 million. Add the site work, parking lot construction, and exterior lighting and the project is welkl over $7 million.
Take a look at the ad below which ran during their first campaign, promising the entire project to be done for $5.9 million.
Hammonton First is using grant money to bring the total cost down, but if they had come through with their promise of bringing in this project at $5.9 million, these grants could have been used on other projects throughout the town. Taking money from a different line doesn't eliminate the expense.
Not to mention all the problems with the building. This morning the computer system failed, so no computers worked when the employees arrived. The fire alarms keep going off all the time. The elevator didn't work today. Twice already the sewer has backed up into the police department. There have been numerous leaks throughout the building, some causing the ceiling tiles to fall. The 911 system failed for 45 minutes. The backup generator failed.
Not only is the town hall questionable, but look at Sam Rodio,he said I have the money home. Oh boy thats' just great. Why does he have the loot at home? This crooked accounting must stop. This is going to give the town a bad name. He didn't even know just how much he collected or what to do with it other than take it home. So many questions about money, where is it, who has it, where did it come from????? Shady politics has returned to Hammonton compliments of the HF'ers.
What money ? As for town hall the sewer back ups where because of the contractors working the 911 system and the generator, where as electric failure. and as a result of the computer equipment being put in the wrong room by the employee. also the computers where because of a as pwoer surge. the leaks are as a result of the a/c system not the roof. and they are being worked on. these things happen with a new buliding. as far as the elevator that thing is scary. to the person who complains about the third floor. it done . it was left like that for future expansion. this is done so that you don't throw alway your money.

"These things happen" when things are done on the cheap. Now the story is changing on the third floor. Most people I talked to in Town Hall didn't know why the third floor isn't done. Was I lied to when I talked to the mayor about it. He said it would be done before the end of summer. Surely there's still money that can be raided from water and sewer that can be used to finish off the third floor.
