There used to be this commercial on TV by Archers Daniels Midland. The catch phrase of the commercial was, We dont make the product, we make it better. This is the philosophy of me and my running mates for Town Council, Anthony Falcone and Jim MacLane. We love Hammonton and we think it is a great town. As I have said before, we do not have violent crime or many other problems that plague communities. We have wonderful traditions that make us unique. Hammonton is a great place. We do not want to create a different town; we just want to make this town better. So what would we do to make Hammonton better?
Municipal taxes were raised only slightly (half a cent). But in addition to low taxes, we need to implement a fiscal process that emphasizes basic services such as police, fire, highway and tree removal. We also must be careful not to continuously use the Water and Sewer Department budget to finance other town operations. Water and Sewer dollars must be set aside in case infrastructure improvements.
We have seen the arrival of new businesses but we also have seen the departure of older and not so old businesses. For this reason, the Hammonton Democrats plan to reform the Tax Abatement Program as well as fully utilize our transportation and geographical assets to bring large, sustainable businesses to the town. This arrival would mean quality jobs for Hammontonians, a larger tax base and plenty of customers for our local merchants.
These are some of the initiatives that the people of Hammonton should expect from Democratic representation on the Town Council. If you should give us the honor of representing you, Anthony (Falcone), Jim (MacLane) and I will work to make Hammonton better for everyone.
