The Mayor recently did a video for Channel 9 that showed items that should be recycled. Unfortunately he included items that are on the unaaceptable list. The Atlantic County Utilities Authority handles the recycling in Hammonton and has the following information on it's website:

Atlantic Countys recycling program is a single-stream program. Residents can now recycle all paper, cans and bottles together in the same containers without separating.

In addtion, ACUA has expanded the list of materials it recycles. Residents are asked to recycle all plastic containers with a number 1 through 7. Please no styrofoam or plastic bags.

ACUA now collects the following materials curbside:

This is not an attempt to discredit the Mayor, he provided a great service by putting this info out and helping Hammonton become more green.

I thought the mayor was making mistakes on the video.  I thought that the purpose of his video was to show that now you can add more to the recycling.  I like the idea of using the blue recycling cans to push and compact everything.   For weeks now I've been putting practically everything in the recycling can.  By the way, why would anyone go through trash bags anyway especially without gloves on.  I throw away my dog poo and baby diapers in the trash.

SHouldn't the mayor's video be pulled from TV.  Can the town or residents get in trouble for knowingly mixing trash with recyclables? I've been putting paper plates, plastic utensils and aluminum foil in the recycling bin because the mayor told me to.
