Democratic Candidate Jim Scarpato discusses reasons for running
Permalink

To the editor:

My name is James Scarpato, Democratic candidate for Hammonton's Town Council, and I would like to share with you a bit of where I came from, who I am, and my plans for the town of Hammonton when I am elected.

Beginning with my quarter-century spent as a volunteer firefighter and ending with the last half-decade spent in Hammonton raising my three children with my wife, I want you to know why I deserve your vote for Town Council.

Twenty-five years ago, at the age of 16, I became a volunteer firefighter. I went on to serve the Franklinville Fire Company for 10 years, five of which I was a lieutenant in charge of their comprehensive training program.

In addition to my volunteer experiences, I've been a butcher for 23 years, 19 of which I was a member of the Local 54 union. Currently, I'm the head butcher at the Showboat in Atlantic City, where I'm responsible for supplying all beef, chicken and fish to the casino restaurants.

On average, that's $3 million worth of product that I deal with annually. It takes some serious financial acumen to maintain cost savings and monthly inventory of that much product, a skill, which will no doubt come in handy as a member of Hammonton's Town Council.

Speaking of which, I think it's time to reveal what I bring to the table as a member of this year's multi-talented Democratic ticket.

First, I want to maintain an open-door policy while in office. No Hammontonian's voice will go unheard because, after all, I'm a taxpayer just like the rest of you. I have no hidden agendas. I have no long-standing business investments in Hammonton, and neither do any of my family members.

Of course, as a resident of Hammonton, I contribute to our local businesses and consider them paramount to our town's survival but, let me repeat, I have no hidden agendas. I'm a hardworking, taxpaying resident of Hammonton, and I know that my leadership experience, both as a worker and as a volunteer, have prepared me to lead our town toward a prosperous future.

I want to finish by quoting my father. Back in 1995, when I was put in charge of the butcher shop at Bally's Grand, he said: "Never forget where you came from."

I've been a leader my whole life, but, behind it all, I have always, and will always, remain true to my core ideals -- honesty, integrity and hard work. And, come Nov. 3, that is what I and the rest of the Democratic ticket will bring to office in Hammonton.

James Scarpato

Democratic candidate

for council

I hope so! This town won't survive another year of HF or their Republican buddies.

This guy isn't even from town!  The Democrats were stuck with a Camden County guy in order to take all the money they received for Sammy Mento's campaign.

You should get your fax together he is not from Camden County. He is from Gloucester County. He is from Washington TWP & Frankinville read his BIO and you would know that. You make a real good investigator. Just face the fact that this team will help Hammonton come  NOV. Thank GOD we need it.  sweep, sweep, sweep

So in other words you are saying he is like Jerry Barberio he only lived in Hammonton a few years before becoming a HF councilman. He also got a high paying county job and is receiving two paychecks from taxpayers one from the county and one from Hammonton. Not long after elected he took it upon himself to destroy our lake park with no regard to Hammonton residents and their memories of what once was a beautiful park. Thanks for ruining our park and town Jerry thanks a lot! Maybe NY needs you more than Hammonton Central Park might take you a few years to destroy so that should keep you busy after you are voted out.

Anthony Marino's complete Republican team will be sweeping.  Why would Hammonton voters choose a guy from Franklinville?  He is not from town!

It is very interesting, the way they have worded Anthony Marino's Bio on the Republican website:
"Anthony Marino...is an engineer for the New Jersey Dept of Transportation."
Makes it sound like he has an engineering degree, when in fact he is a conductor on the Atlantic City train. They are resorting to misleading statements to try and win you over.

The Democrats have run a very positive issue oriented campaign, the Republicans have been invisible, and HF has no platform to back up their only slogan.

You are a typical liberal Democrat attacking a fine man like Anthony Marino .  Anthony proudly lists his job and employer in his bio.  Joe Ingemi hides the fact of where he works.  He is always around town.  Is he unemployed?

Why is it that know one wants to defend Anthony on the DWI fixing. Everyone side steps that issue. What about this BIO?? He is NOT a engineer or aconductor. He take your ticket when you sit down in a seat. I like Anthony he is a nice guy. That fact is you should be looking at Steve he is a builder in town and wants to run for mayor. Talk about double dipping. This town is miss run as it is, with his brother. Now you going to put someone in that seat who is out for him and to fill his packets with our tax dollars. Joe will make a very good mayor and his 3 running maids make very good Councilman . Just face the fact that the democrats have a very good ticket this year from the bottom up.  SWEEP, SWEEP, SWEEP

First of all how can you accuse someone of being a Democrat when the person is anonymous? You can't just make that accusation that person could be a Republican! Also if you keep seeing Joe Ingemi all over town then why aren't you at work? Are you unemployed?

Neither is Gribbin or Barberio. That is why for the past 2 elections they had to write letters to the papers where they listed their connections to people in town or that they had someone in their families who was Italian. What a joke, but you idiots bought it. They know that is most important here and one guy is a lawyer!!!!!

Anthony Marino is the only choice for people who want to go back to the way Hammonton was before HF.  The Democrats are attacking a fine man.  All they offer is Joe Ingemi, who will not even answer where he works.

Don't forget you elect a lawyer for council, ordinances will change to add more fees for the taxpayers to pay in this struggling economy. Hopefully the people of Hammonton will wake up to this charade.

Marino is a fine man.  What we need though is strong leadership. We've already seen what Marino can do.  Not much.  It's what he can't do that won't get him elected.  The only ticket Marino should concentrate on is all the ticket transfers.  All the transfers from Republican to Democrat in order to defeat HF.

What we need is someone that will be visible.  We have an invisible freeholder and a mayor that ducks questions.  Marino is not an "engineer."  He is a conductor.  Engineers have more responsibility, takes a good deal more training and have to have a federal certificate to operate a locomotive.  Marino does not have a federal certificate at all. PERIOD.  Engineers operate the train, conductors don't.  It's more the like a difference between the pilot and ticket agent/baggage handler.  He shouldn't be embarrassed by his line of work.  Good for him landing a job after his stint after giving uphis badge.

Joe Ingemi is visible.  He has no job so he walks around town all day with his dog and lives with his mommy.  The Democrats keep insulting Anthony Marino but he has normal working class.

Joe has a Job & a very good one at that. I just do not under stand if you keep seeing Joe, what is your job?? (unemployment) why do you keep saying that the democrats are insulting Anthony? Are you just mad that the democrats are running a clean campaign? And that the democrats are a threat to HF? And you just want to spin it around to try to keep the pressure off of them ( HF ) from the democrats ?? Let all just face facts here, HF is starting to see the light at the end of their tunnel. All I ask is ( HF ) turn out the lights when they are defeated. Have a nice DAY.

What campaign the only names the Democrats are supporting are Ingemi and Didonato. How about introducing the council ticket to the voters. No one knows where they stand or who they even are.

You haven't been paying much attention, have you? The Democratic Ticket was announced several months ago and the campaign signs are popping up all over town. Joe Ingemi is running for Mayor and Mike Ammirato, Jim Scarpato, and Carmen Villani are running for Council. This has been in the paper several times. The entire ticket has been mentioned in every Letter to the Editor and in every Press Release. Carmen Villani and Jim Scarpato have both written Letters in the paper outlining their backgrounds, their reasons for running and their plans once elected. Mike Ammirato is submitting his letter soon. The entire ticket is displayed on the main page of http://www.hammontondems.org, our website. Each candidates picture is there and clicking on their picture will bring you to their Bio.
This is the strongest and most qualified ticket running this year. Check out the information and bring yourself up to date. You will agree and cast your vote accordingly.

Considering Joe Ingemi has plenty of time on his hands so he and Rich Jacobus write nasty letters every week, you would think he'd have enough time to talk about where he works.  The other Democrats candidate at least said he was a butcher at the casinos so he learned how to  buy meat.

Where exactly does Joe Ingemi work?  What exactly does he do there?  How does that make him qualified to be Mayor?

Saying you are a computer consultant doesn't mean very much.  Doesn't the company have a name?

My my you are very worried. Well the one qualifications that Joe Ingemi is lacking is that he is not qualified nor does he know how to rip off the taxpayers like some other politicians that we know who ruined our town to benefits themselves.

Isn't this a fairly simple question?  Where does Joe Ingemi work and how does that job help him be qualified to be mayor of Hammonton?
