Capital Bank considering a branch in downtown Hammonton

A relative newcomer to the banking industry is considering opening a branch in downtown Hammonton. Capital Bank based in Vineland, NJ made the announcement in the 11/11 edition of the Hammonton News.
Capital Bank was founded in 2007 by a large number of Cumberland County businesses. Now the bank is looking for $4 million from Hammonton investors as part of it's interest in Hammonton.
In a statement made to the Hammonton News:

"We are doing this capital raise not because we need the capital. We are doing it because we want -- and think we need -- to have a critical mass of Hammonton stockholders in order to be successful in Hammonton," said David J. Hanrahan Sr., Capital's president and chief executive officer. "We are not going to expand to Hammonton unless we make that minimum $4 million number."

Can Hammonton support another bank and will Hammonton investors step up to the plate and consider this a worthy venture?

Capital Bank is fiercely trying to put Sun Nat'l Bank out of business and I believe is trying to get a foothold before NJM Bank opens.

A job is a job.  Would anyone who doesn't have one turn down a job because it is minimum wage? Do you have a Master's Degree or are you independently wealthy? Or are you on unemployment waiting for some high paying job to be dropped into your lap?  Or are you too special for minimum wage?  Do you really think big business is coming to Hammonton? Do you see the cute little stores opening downtown? Tanning, Personal training, sweets and candy, card stores, coffee shops, pizza shops, etc.  These are all vanity businesses owned by people who have family money to burn. In other words, if these fluff businesses fail, they will still be able to pay their mortgage(s) and feed their kids. That is what HF is looking to bring to Hammonton. People they know who have available funds.Honestly,, there is no big business opening up anywhere anymore. That ship has sailed.

If our town leaders want big businesss to come than it will open up doors for them to come.  But when you shut down doors like the last administration has then businesses like Lowes and Home Depot will go elsewhere like they have.  It's all about having a Vision for Hammonton not just a Vision for One.

Looks like our current mayor is going to be a shareholder at Capital Bank.  He went onto say that we don't have any good community banks in Hammonton.

Well you can comfort yourself in the knowledge you are in a very private club with very few members.  Did the Democrats win any elections at all in the last decade?
