Former Mayoral Candidate, Joe Ingemi, demonstrates the thinking needed to guide us through tough times.

This letter appeared in today's (12/31) Press of Atlantic City. The writer is Joe Ingemi, our recent candidate for Mayor. Even on this one subject he displays the kind of forward thinking and planning Hammonton could have had as it's leader in these tough economic times.

State must plan for health care reform

As health care reform comes closer to passage, states will be forced to contend with the reality of implementation. There is a strong possibility that states will be required to administer the health-insurance exchanges as well as deal with new mandates. These will be costly for our financially strapped state, especially if not properly planned. Therefore, I hope that upon taking office, Gov.-elect Chris Christie and the Legislature will appoint a bipartisan commission to deal with the gritty details of ensuring implementation with minimal risk to taxpayers.

With final passage likely, the focus now shifts from a question of product to a question of process. New Jersey must ready itself to deal with the process.

Only Hammonton would choose fat cells over brain cells.

Well, at least, we continue the tradition of being the laughing stock of South Jersey.  Why should we start being taken seriously now?

This guy made sense all the way throughout the campaign. He presented himself well, he brought up important issues. He provided great solutions. He showed a vision for the future of our town.
And yet, a bag of vegetables bought the votes once again.
Ingemi was clearly the most qualified candidate, but that didn't matter.
He displayed a new energy and vision for a Hammonton, but they didn't see it.
He knew how to get things done without using our credit cards and passing the bills on to future residents, but the voters were complacent.
They saw some pretty buildings downtown and were happy with that.
The voters are as blind as our government, and as the bills all come due, we will be paying the price. As the rest of the town falls down around us, at least we will have some new paint on 3 blocks of Bellevue Ave.
We could have had so much more...

The people in Hammonton are so greedy that they would sell anything for free food to fill their guts as if their guts were empty. Hammonton people are not smart they are sneaky and greedy that's why they will never vote for anyone with a brain because it makes them look stupid. Never ever did Hammontonans vote for outsiders for council that's one thing they were consistent with - makes you wonder if they really got elected or the polls were fixed??? Maybe the washed up puppet master did his little magic with his company computer to alter the voting machines where's the media??? NEW POLITICAL PARTY FUNDED BY STOLEN MONEY!!!! TOWN RENNOVATIONS FUNDED BY STOLEN MONEY!!!!

People give certain families too much power.  I wrote to the editors of various South Jersey newspapers and wrote to some news channels.  None of them care to report about Hammonton.  I think they too are scared of these "certain" families power.

Yet the media comes to interview the same people regularly about downtown and how wonderful it is for all of Hammonton.

What power??? Hammontonians are so dumb that they have duped into thinking these people have power.

Newspapers don't care about Hammonton because they see us as bunch of morons.

Joe Ingemi did not lash out at the Hammonton voters, he expressed his beliefs the same way he did all throughout the campaign. Joe was never afraid to tell the truth. He had no one to report to, no one pulling his strings and he always laid every issue out on the table for all to see. He did the same thing after the election. He expressed his concerns over what will come by continuing down the same path with the same political party.
You want the truth? You can't handle the truth...

well said the people of Hammonton are very dumb that's why they won't elect someone with a brain because it makes them look even dumber. They are not afraid of people with money they are afraid of people with a brain. Words to describe the people that live here - the bigger the degree the dumber they get.  Scary.... that's why nothing will ever get better in this town because they fear knowledge and doing what's right, that's why bringing Stockton to Hammonton was such a joke. Curious to know if Steve will say the town is broke or the town is in great financial shape??? Actions will speak louder than words.

The only people who speak out against HF are the little guys.  The big guys, big name families don't.  How come the former mayors from the Dems and REPS DON'T SPEAK OUT.  The HF administration constantly bashes them yet no one responds and proves them wrong.  Some big names better speak up and not leave it up to candidates who are destined to lose.

Well put...those candidates might actually win if people of stature, like former Mayors and Council people, call out HF for what they are.  If more people would write letters and go to council meetings and speak up, Hf would go away.

They have no real power.  They stay out of trouble only because more people don't hold them accountable.

Their lies are obvious:  Stockton, the downtown, the canoe club and on and on.  More people need to care.

Why would they speak out? They have nothing to gain. Jim Bertino has been siting on council and he doesn't speak out never did. The republicans had 3 people on council and the only thing they did was vote with HF and then question later. They were sitting councilmen and did nothing! Dems are the only ones with brains that can take HF down but the people say they are naysayers that's how stupid the Hammonton people are. So if the dumb dumbs keep voting them in office then let them suffer.

Wow. that would make a good campaign slogan for Joe to use if he runs again.  He's just one guy.  It'll take more than writing letters to editors to get more people to vote for him.

Well, Steve is ignoring the buzz on the streets. Check out who Steve appointed Downtown Advocate.  I guess we know who calls the shots.

Remember it's all about the MONEY! HF gets to keep all the stolen money. I bet if they had to return the million dollars they got over the past 4 years they would have hung him out to dry. Since they are keeping the money they have to throw him a bone. Maybe Steve will hire him to be the greeter at town hall. I'm sure Steve would give him a six figure salary since we have so much surplus we don't know what to do with it all. Hopefully the washed up puppet master will make a wrong move and go to jail or ancora where he belongs. It's just a matter of time before he snaps! Keep your fingers crossed.

I think it's so funny watching HF admire and phrase themselves on how great they are and all their great accomplishments and how Hammonton could not survive without them etc. They are starting to brainwash themselves into believing what they are saying is true. I look at it this way all the great dictators who bragged about how much money they had and showed off their wealth and palaces etc. then in the same breath said how poor their people were...... sound familiar? Ferdinand and Imelda Marcos were brought to justice and so was Saddam Hussein so it's just a matter of time before HF is brought to justice. People that do bad things always get caught it just may take a little time but they pay in the end. Happy New Year

Until a Republican actually speaks out against HF publicly then no one will question HF.  No one listens to the Dems so their speaking out is ignored.  All we've seen is Republicans vote along with HF and have seen their party leaders campaign for HF.

Your right that's why the HF reps and the regular reps are one of the same. That's why the reg rep president got so many appointments from the mayor. I find it hilarious that the washed up puppet master isn't posting his normal comments trashing, insulting and deforming peoples character. He can dish it out but can't take it. What goes around comes around and he's got a lot more coming. Now that he has no money he is a nobody in this town just like he is in every other town! How does it feel? Get used to it!

They'll still publicize that 300+ people came and both papers will print it.

Maybe the evil washed up puppet master in a last ditch effort used his magical computer to sway the votes! It seems as though when they lost after they went after the chief every year after they won and were very confident before the election - makes you wonder? I guess that would be a state offense who cares as long as he goes to jail!

The people of Hammonton are all stupid.  Jim MacLane is right.  Joe Ingemi would have been a great mayor.
