Councilman Jerry Barberio famously said once about the Boyer Avenue Rec fields that we would be using other people's money to build it.
Well, it makes for a nice campaign sign. But so far we borrowed $1 million dollars for that field and we spent $800K to run water and sewer there (which is great if you own a home or business in the area). And what do have to show for it.....
Check out the agenda at the next council meeting:
Boyer Avenue Recreation - Phase III (ARH #11-75003):
At present time the two outstanding permits that need to be obtained are from Atlantic County and from the Soil Conservation District. We are preparing the submissions to both agencies. The main hurdle currently resides with the need to irrigate the proposed fields.Several options are being explored, which we plan to discuss with the PWTC or the appropriate Town Committee to decide which approach the Town would like to take on this issue. We still do not even have irrigation and it is holding up the completion of our great soccer fields!! But don't worry we will be discussing solutions ( and costs) in Committee Meetings (not the Council Meetings because taxpayers might actually see this project as wasteful boondoggle it is). So much for open government!!!! Promised kept, right Hammonton First?
Who didn't know this? Every project Hammonton First initiates only benefits them or their supporters only the taxpayers have to foot the bill. This is downright fraud and corruption of public money. Where is the Attorney General? I can't believe that services had to be cut and people lose their jobs for this greed. They have the nerve to blame the poor economy the only reason why they are not increasing taxes is because they own so much property. They don't give a dam about the senior citizens just look at all the mess at the lake park no one even used the Canoe Club that cost us taxpayers over 1.5 million!!!!!
