Mayor cries about Budget

In the Atlantic City Press, every School Board interviewed said this was worse than expected.

Also, every Mayor interviewed said the same thing about their town's state aid cuts.

The school is proposing a budget with several dozen layoffs.

Sounds like "Toxic Avenger" isn't very informed as to what is going on and is going to fight against the school board also.

For the past 4 years all we heard was that Hammonton was in the best position to whether this storm and it's all good. Our country has been in a financial crises since the war in Iraq started over 10 years ago. This is not breaking news. Why did the previous administration promise people a 5.9 million dollar town hall, senior center and furnishings only to cost the taxpayers more than double and why are these figures kept secret? Why did the taxpayers have to pay to renovate all downtown properties that are privately owned and pave only 2nd St. and Vine St.? Why did they need to spend $80,000. to have new telephone poles put in front of our new town hall - there was nothing wrong with the other ones! Why did we have to run water and sewer to the bowling alley at a cost of over 1 million dollars? Why are we spending 3 million of taxpayer money to renovate and airport that no one uses? Why did they spend millions on destroying our lake park? Why did HF give our solicitor a $10,000 a year raise plus increase his hourly rate and he even gets a pension. Why did HF hire so many employees when they were elected to office? Why did they give health care benefits to part time employees, why did they allow some people who did not put in their 25 years of service retire with full pension and life time health care benefits? Last but not least if they care so much about the taxpayers why would they continue with the Stockton project that will cost taxpayers over 5 million dollars? The list goes on... HF are really stupid but the people who put them in office are even more stupid!!! It's just a shame that the people who didn't create this mess have to take the hit for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Facts are facts! HF has destroyed our town and we keep getting deeper and deeper in debt. So you are saying that the taxpayers didn't put HF in office but what you are saying is that the polls were manipulated and the taxpayers aren't stupid?

With so many employees out on workman's compensation how will they be able to function with furloughs and layoffs?? What does this mean for the struggling taxpayers??? No new taxes no services???

I heard that the Assistant Town Clerk's husband is always out on workman's comp because of a childhood injury he sustained. My question is why workman's comp and not disability? Plus if he is constantly getting injured why is he still employed? Because his wife is the Assistant Administrator and does what's best for them financially but at the cost of the taxpayers? Must be hanging in there for those lifetime health benefits and pension! If this was someone that worked for the highway or police dept. they would have either been laid off, or given the third degree and forced to return to work to be fired!! No double standard here do you think?

What I think is stupid is hiring a lobbyist for pet projects like Stockton but cutting other town positions. What happened to shared sacrifice? Speaking of sacrifice, how about setting the example and actually paying taxes if you are going to run for office.

Awe go easy on these people!! Did you forget that HF is always right and everyone else is wrong? Remember they are very sensitive when it comes to money. Did you forget they aren't suppose to sacrifice anything only the struggling taxpayers must sacrifice everything? I think it's funny how they demand the poor pay their taxes but let the rich slide. This is corruption at its best!!!

They are not hiring new highway workers. In fact this is the only department the mayor wants to layoff worker, just ask Ms. Oddo.

They always target the highway department. So when our trash and bulk waste and everything else builds up we can just drop it off at our beautiful downtown maybe during their farmers market event. Gee then what would all the millions of outsiders who visit our downtown think about that? What would Stockton think of having a new campus surrounded by trash?

Oh come on now. Hammonton is being ruined by Hammonton First. WAKE UP! Look at who's benefiting from Town Council poor decisions to benefit the few over the many. We were constantly told that It's ALL GOOD while Democrats and Republicans have been constantly trying to say the message that Hammonoton First is lying.

Can someone explain the letters we got from the Town on Saturday? I don't understand it they are saying we can't build homes on our property if we live in those zones or we can build one home but we can't subdivide? Brian Howell must have wrote it because its clear as mud.

HF has been telling us all along that the town is in excellent financial condition; ten million in reserve, double a bond rating, and paying down the debt. Therefore why is anyone even talking about furloughs, layoffs and the $300,000 that the town won't get from the state this year. This is just a drop in the bucket and with 10 million in reserve no one should lose any time, their job and no services should be cut, unless of course HF has been lying all along. Let's see what happens at tonight's council meeting.

It seems as though our assistant town clerk is maneuvering positions in order to protect her sister from having to take furlough days or get laid off. It seems as though she is making her part of the administration which will be exempt from furloughs and/or layoffs (see agenda). She has also put her husband out on workman's comp instead of disability so that way there will be no loss in pension or health benefits. It seems as though she has HF wrapped around her little finger. She is making sure in this time of crises that her or her family don't have to give up a penny. How greedy can you get?? I know whenever I went into the top office they are always in the back room and then come out with a mouth full of food to wait on me??? They really work hard - at eating I guess - no wonder why the mayor likes them so much.

Good idea! She doesn't own a construction company, she doesn't own a bowling alley and she doesn't own any commercial rental properties or property downtown! Anything she would rip off would be a lot less than the current crew we have. April for Mayor YES! Isn't she the one running the town any way???

What happened to our surplus that we had around last November? I think that was when the old mayor said we were in good financial shape and had a AA Princeton rating (forgive me if date and rating are wrong). What happened to all that money? Can someone explain to me why the Canoe/Recreation Office is always empty? That is one expensive office for one man. Does the town generate any money from the airport? If so, how much?
