Is property tax relief on it's way? UPDATE 2/7
Permalink

A PROPERTY TAX RELIEF BILL WAS INTRODUCED ON FRIDAY 1/26 AT 8 PM. IT WILL GO DIRECTLY TO THE ASSEMBLY FLOOR TODAY (1/29).
Click here to read legislation  http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/2006/Bills/A0500/1_I1.PDF

This bill will mean a 20% credit for households earning up to $100,000, 15% for households earning between $100,000 and $150,000, and 10% for those households earning between $150,000 and $200,000. Critics claim this is only a short term solution.

Without spending cuts, we just have to pay extra sales tax or extra income tax to make up the difference.

In order to cut taxes, you have t cut spending. I'd like to see all three parties in town develop complete line-by-line budgets to show how they would be able to reduce spending.

The Democrats laid their cost cutting measures on the table during the election.  They were the only party with an actual plan.

HF really did reduce spending.  In fact, the Governor mentioned when he was here that Hammonton was the only municipality in the State to do so in 2006.

The Republican blog is reporting that their party is threatening to sue to stop property tx relief. The Governor's plan is in jepordy because of their greed for our money!

Enough is enough with these Republicans. I hear that Jerry Vitalo already has taken $18,000 from the town and Jimmy Bertino is getting $6,000. All the other councilpeople are donating their time. What is it with these guys?

Forget about what you hear.  It's way worse than that!  It's actually on record that Town Solicitor Brian Howell received a $10,000 unsolicited increase in pay.  Can you believe that the Mayor and Hammonton First councilmen actually approved giving him this money even though he didn't ask for it?

I wish I could make that kind of money without asking.

You must be talking about them receiving insurance becuase they are councilmen.  It's a shame they aren't as wealthy as the Mayor and his cohorts, that can afford to pay for their own insurance.

Maybe we should only vote in the super-wealthy of our town so they don't need insurance?

I have an idea, maybe Brian Howell can donate the extra $10,000 he received from the Mayor and Hammonton First councilpeople and give every voter a one dollar tax cut!

EVEN BETTER IS IF VITALO AND BERTINO GIVE BACK THE $24,000 AND JIM MACLANE GIVES BACK THE MILLIONS AND MILIONS THE SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION PROJECT WHENT OVER BUDGET.

ALSO, PLYMOUTH PLACE, WHICH THE DEMOCRATS APPROVED, COSTS HAMMONTON TAXPAYERS $1 MILLION PER YEAR BECAUSE THEY PUT 100 KIDS IN THE SCHOOL BUT THE DEMOCRATS AGREED TO NO TAXES!

First, the school project came in on budget, a fact that has been proven to you time and time again, but the truth doesn't allow you to bash the hell out of me so you continue to make up your stories.
Scond, if you remember the council that approved Plymouth Place was 5 Republicans to 2 Democrats, another fact you convieniently forget.

JIM MACLANE IS RIGHT!

It was the REPUBLICAN majority that brought in Plymouth Place! If I remember, the only Democrats to vote in favor of it were Barbara Berenato and Anthony Falcone.

Plymouth Place pays no taxes and cost us over $1 MiLLION PER YEAR to educate their kids.

THE REPUBLICANS ARE THE ONES WHO CAUSED THIS DISASTER!

Jim,
Can't you get rid of that lying jerk that falsly accuses the school board of going over budget like Penza did?

There is no truth to anything he says.  His entire purpose in life is to try to discredit anyone who doesn't agree with him.  I wonder how he gets through life being so misrable all the time.  How does he sleep at night???

THAT'S RIGHT JIM MACLANE: WHERE IS YOUR DATA TO SHOW THE SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION PROJECT CAME IN ON BUDGET?

Strawman Argument.

You are the sore loser that accused Jim's Board of not coming in on budget.  He posted his response.  He doesn't need to prove anything. It's on you to prove it wasn't on budget.

More importantly, maybe your $47,000 would have been better spent keeping the costs of Town Hall down.  You guys are already over budget by close to a million, and you've barely got the dirt level.  How does it feel to dupe the entire town with misleading ads, posters, and promises?

I feel sorry for people like Massarelli, Colosurdo, and even Wuillerman.  The rest of you did your song and dance, got your Town Hall right next to your precious storefronts, got your fancy sidewalks after you bought up the buildings, and still had to come in OVER BUDGET.

I guess Joe Taxpayer is just gonna have to bite the bullet so your downtown shopping mecca will look its best.  I for one am on my way to Shop Rite.  That's a nice plaza right there.

He already did answer you a million times.  Your head is too far up your ass.

The building was on time and on budget, and you have no data to contest that.

I voted for Bertino, Diaz, and Vitalo this year.  Seeing these posts, I am wondering if I did the right thing.  Maybe I should vote for HF because they answer the financial questions.

This Firster refuses to show any data that the school building was over budget.  He is clearly lying.  All his posts should be deleted for slander.  Jim, you should look up this IP address and have this scumbag lier arrested.

Here is some evidence the school went over budget.

1--- massive tax increases
2--- huge leases of old buses and everything else that wasn't tied down.

WHERE IS THE DATA ON HOW MUCH THE SCHOOL COST TO BUILD?

How dumb are you?  That is not data!!!!!!   You might need to take a college course in problem centered research to finially find out what data really is.

JIM MACLANE WON'T POST THE SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION DATA. WHY?

HE CLAIMS THE SCHOOL CAME IN ON BUDGET.

HE MUST HAVE DATA TO BACK UP HIS STATEMENT, RIGHT?

You ask for Jim to post data.  If you are so concerned with data why don't you ask council to keep an up to date list of all construction expenses.  From what I can tell, it is already  over budget but they keep saying it's on budget.  The new high school is a beautiful building that is the envy of many schools.  Stop discrediting the hard work to those who love Hammonton, brought Hammonton into the 21st century.  The school was on budget. You refuse to see that the budget deficits arose out of the state not giving its fair share to what is owed to Hammonton.  I like many know that we are so lucky that we have a new school at all with all the problems we face globally and state wide.  The current and children of Hammonton have a wonderful facility of learning.  Despite how you  feel of Jim Mac Lane or anyone who helped get the school built, Hammonton High is the Best School in NJ>

School leaders all over NJ are envious of Hammonton High.  It is amazing we can have such a beautiful facility, and such great students and teachers with a per pupil expenditure as low as it is.

What an outright lie!!! You hide behind proxies and post anonomously like a coward and then make outrageous accusations and run and hide under your rock. I hate the fact that school taxes keep going up, but I do know that a large portion of it has to do with the state not following it's own funding law. Every TV, radio, newspaper outlet in the state has reported and confirmed this. I'll see if we can get one of them to put it in comic book form so that you can understand it.
