Hammonton Gazette "bites the hand that feeds us"

In the 2/28 edition of the Gazette the editorial staff takes swipes at Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson and does so, from what we can see, without any just cause. The Central Avenue project is discussed in the editorial. And even though the county has been very patient in waiting for this project to get underway, as it was stalled for years under Republican inaction, the Gazette seems to feel the county had better be ready to jump in within seconds of completion of our portion of the project. The county has been anxious to get this project done and has been pushing Hammonton for years to move. There has been no implication that anything has changed. The Gazette also includes a cartoon attacking Mr. Levinson in a very controversial manner. We think the editors of the Gazette have a lot to learn about diplomacy and simple everyday manners. It is more likely to get what you want by being civil with the other party than by lashing out, making demands, belittling the principles you need the work from. We're sure Mr. Levinson will consider the source when viewing this material and we also hope this will not negatively effect any timetables already in place for this project.

Isn't that how Hammonton First got elected in the first place?

The Gazette is getting worse and worse.  It is more obvious how politically biased they are than ever before.

It seems like the official paper of Hammonton First.  Hopefully the paper will go down when HF goes down this November.

AC PRESS HIGHLY COMPLIMENTARY OF HAMMONTON OPEN GOVERNMENT

The AC Press today wrote an article about other towns not allowing government meetings to be filmed.

The Press said quote "Hammonton is an example of a community on the cutting edge of municipal television broadcasting. Not only has the town expanded its municipal coverage since DiDonato took office, but it is now experimenting with posting full-length meetings on Google Video and the town Web site."

The Press goes on to write quote "Hammonton has created democracy-on-demand"

The full press article can be read at http://www.pressofatlanticcity.com/news/local/atlantic/story/7263615p-7118514c.html. It is titled "Putting the Focus on Government."

Link fixed to story.

There were so many nice things going on around town when I watched the last "Chat with the Mayor." And now there will be no tax increase at the school even though they are hiring more teachers. Hammonton certainly has a lot of positive things going for it.

Yes,
KKK rallies, Asbestos cover-ups, a dirty law suit against the cheif, the Hammonton Historic building hasn't been worked on in months, the contractors can't dig the correct hole for the new town hall.

Town Hall Contractors DIg Correct Hole, Handle Issue Properly

The above post shows there was some confusion on the digging of the hole for town hall. This was explained by the Mayor explained in the Chat with the Mayor, and also the Town Hall Committee explained to Jerry Vitalo at the last council meeting.

The site of the building had once been the location for some houses. Once the pavement was dug up, those old foundations had to be removed also. Finally, the soils had to be compacted to allow for the structure to be built. These were of course tested and results presented to all members of Council and the public at the last council meeting.

Apparently, Jerry Vitalo had been confused, which may have been the original source of the error. He was briefed on all the correct data as everyone saw on TV at the last meeting.

Jerry Vitalo thought water runs uphill. He complained about it at the town council meeting. This is the same guy that called for a fourth party, dug up dirt at the lake illegally, etc. He's only been councilman for two months. What is next?
