Charges were filed against Chief Ingemi on October 12, 2006. A decision dismissing all charges was issued on March 20, 2007. For over 5 months this Town, the Chief, his family, his co-workers and friends have had to endure a very stressful time brought about by just 2 individuals who obviously had politcal motivations driving their actions. There were old vendettas playing out and influence from others in the community. It was clear from the start that the community was overwhelmingly against the filing of these charges, but these two individuals charged on with no regard for the public's opinion.
Now the Chief has been vindicated and the Town is overjoyed. A fine man who has served this community with distinction for over 35 years has had a great weight lifted off his shoulders and can now go back to serving the community he loves to the best of his ability. However, a cloud now hangs over the relationship between the Chief and Council. This relationship has been strained to almost the breaking point. Especially the working relationship between the Law & Order Committee and the Police Department. That trust and relationship must now be rebuilt to ensure the safety of the residents of Hammonton. The Chief can not effectively do his job if he must constantly look over his shoulder to see if these two members of council will continue their vendetta and will watch and wait for the Chief to make some kind of mistake they can use to his disadvatage. Sure, everyone involved can say " all is forgotten and we can move on from here." But the damage to that relationship has already been done and must be repaired. We need the Chief to devote 100% of his time and effort to the safety and well being of the residents of Hammonton. In order to do this he needs the full trust and support of the members of the Law & Order Committee. In order to restore that full trust and a good honest and open working relationship, the Hammonton Democrats demand that Mayor John DiDonato and Councilman Rock Colasurdo immediately resign from the Law & Order Committee and two new council members be appointed in their place.

The Chief really laid down the law the other day and made sure the women Town Hall knows who is the boss. We support you 100% Chief! YOU are the ruler of the town. YOU are the man to tell those women YOU are the boss, they should listen only to YOU and do exactly what YOU say! The heck with their nutty nervous breakdowns!

The Chief is the boss. He doesn't have to listen to anybody. The judge has ruled.

Sam Mento, the new president of the Democrat club, made this request formally to the Mayor and Colasurdo at the 3/26 council meeting and received no reply from anyone on Council. This request is a public safety issue. The safety of the public should come first. The Chief can not effectively do his job if he has to constantly look over his shoulder to see if they are waiting for him to make a mistake. This relationship has been destroyed by the actions of these two men. It is in the best interest of the Town that two different council members be assigned to this committee to return the level of trust and open communication that the Police Dept. and Council deserve.

It seems like common sense to me. Why is that only the Democrats have spoken up for the chief and the issue of public safety from Day 1 of last years campaign and now once again from Day 1 they are still showing their support for the chief and showing their concern about Hammonton and public safety. Good job Sam, you were great. It's nice to see that the Democrats have many new faces. New faces that are not afraid to speak up for the people of Hammonton.
We were disappointed that the Republicans said nothing in support of or in reply to Sam Mento's statement at the Council meeting. This was an opportunity to join with the Democrats and support the people of Hammonton and once again the Republicans sat back and said nothing.

Now that Rocky has switched to the Republican Party, they aren't going to bash him.
ENOUGH WITH DEMOCRAT LOSERS. THE REPUBLICAN PARTY ARE THE TRUE LEADERS OF THIS TOWN. NOW WITH ROCKY COLASURDO JOINING US, WE HAVE A 4-3 MAJORITY AND HAVE OUR TOWN BACK. WE DON'T NEED YOU LOSERS. DON'T EVER FORGET IT.

The people of Hammonton won't forget. We Won't Get Fooled Again. HF and Republicans are one in the same.

You just proved that Republicans and HF are one in the same. I guess that's why the Republicans never publicly spoke in support of the Chief because they in fact were in support for RC and his trumped up charges.

Why should the Republicans respond to Sam Mento? The people voted and they put the Dems in last place. They don't want them on council. Vote Republican!

The Republicans should respond to all the people of Hammonton. What Sam Mento said expressed what all the Democrats and the People of Hammonton feel. I commend Sam and all who speak up for the people of Hammonton. The people of Hammonton voted HF out not voted Republicans in.

Just like a Republican to say that. Sam Mento was 100%, absolutely, definitely right. If you are speaking for all Republicans then you are no better than HF. Sam Mento on the other hand was speaking for ALL DEMOCRATS. We are proud that he stood up and spoke up instead of sit down and keep quiet like typical Republicans. Remember to represent ALL of Hammonton.
