Hammonton Lake Park Track to be closed
Permalink

According to the agenda of the upcoming Town Council meeting scheduled for 4/23, in order to provide improvements to parking and various other projects at the park, the track will be closed to the public.
Here is the item from the agenda:

14.      Hammonton LakePark (11-90028):

Our office has met with members of the Little League, Hawks, and the Town related to parking improvements and various other projects contemplated at the lake park.  As a result of these discussions, it appears the Town would like to move forward with a plan to reconfigure the existing site layout.  The plan would have minimal impact on the existing playing fields; however the existing track would be closed to the general public.  As of this writing our office is in the process of writing a proposal for Councils consideration which includes a number of tasks discussed with the groups noted above.  It will likely be ready for the meeting, and will be discussed accordingly.

Hopefully we will see a presentation of the full impact of these changes at the council meeting.
The track is used by a large number of residents daily. What do you think of the track closing?

Update
More information came from the council meeting and the Hammonton News did a story in this week's edition. Click here.

The Hammonton News was delighted with the proposed changes.  Only the Democrats are bashing.  What losers.  Vote Republican!

I don't know what you are reading. The Hammonton Democrats have not made any statement concerning the Lake park or the track. All we did was post the information from the council agenda and allowed people to discuss the issue. You see, we are the party that is willing to l isten to the public and gather public opinion so that we can represent them in a responsible manner. We always welcome the public's input and that is what we allowed to happen here.

Now we will take a look at the plans and proposals that the engineer and the Parks and Rec committee come up with. We all want to see the Lake park used to it's fullest extent, and any changes that benefit the public safety and enhance the recreational opportunities at the lake will be supported by our party.
