The Hammonton School District has received good news. They will receive an additional $1,078,940 in funding for this school year. There is no word yet if there are certain ways the district must use this money, but any additional funding is great news for our district. This additional money should go a long way towards eliminating the debt incurred by the district last year. This funding also comes with an acknowledgement by the state that our district has been underfunded for many years. Because of the underfunding by the State, the district has been forced to pass on the costs of operating the district to the taxpayers. Hopefully, now that the State has realized the burden it has placed on the property owners of Hammonton, this trend will be reversed and the Governor will finalize a new funding plan for our schools.
Great ........when can we the taxpayers get a much needed refund. I can use the extra money.....for my added healthcare expenses.
I don't know when we can expect that anytime soon. Many truly are concerned about our property taxes as well as what we get back in services. Kind of like what has happened with the state. We give money but we get little back. All we can do is demand that the state give us back our fair share for what we put in. The state and federal government has for years not adequately funded or put our tax dollars to good use to benefit our own schools. Our kids have been shortchanged by this and our school budget suffered. I hope the state and NCLB doesn't screw us again when it comes to our schools.
How could they possibly think they could take credit for this. The State has finally woke up and given us the money they promised us for years. And hiring Barbara Prettyman was a blessing to our school. She can actually add and subtract correctly. Hurry up November and get them our of there and the Republicans too because they are no better.
There are have been some who have regularly spoken badly about our schools and just didn't want to hear anything about the fact that the state has repeatedly for several years not given Hammonton's schools their fair share. This caused Hammonton's schools to go through budget woes. Our schools suffered because of this. It's great that our schools are getting funded as mandated. It's not fair that Abbott schools get 85% of the monies statewide and small schools like Hammonton get shortchanged.
There you go again!!! Barbara made absolutetly no statement about this at the meeting. Barbara did ask some questions. Why are you guys so afraid of questions? Just because the puppetmaster doesn't have control over all of Hammonton, people with free will are bashed by him and his small group of puppets. That's OK, more and more people are cutting the strings and he is losing his control. That's why he is bashing so hard here. His frustration and feeling of doom is overtaking him.

I am Barbara Berenato and I never spoke out against a dress code, but I did ask several questions concerning the enforcement of such a code. The safety of our children is of the utmost concern. I am a teacher, employed by a public school district with a strict school uniform policy. Our policy was a disaster because of the enforcement, or lack of enforcement of that policy. The policy was interpreted differently by different building principals, and it wasn't enforced or implemented properly.
I am 100% in support of school uniforms. I have researched the pros and cons of school uniforms, and I still have such research.The research shows many benefits, from the reduction of school violence and discipline problems, to higher school morale. If implemented properly, school uniforms could be a benefit to the image, safety, and morale of everyone involved in Hammonton Public Schools. A school uniform policy cannot happen overnight.It will take many months of discussion and questions to address many of the issues concerned with implementation and enforcement. Such a policy can only be implemented properly if conscientious and responsible board members like you ask the necessary questions.

Why is that when someone asks a question that they are accused of being a basher or against something? This is a democracy, the fact that people asks questions shows that one is interested in an issue or has a comment. Do we really want a town or a nation in which its citizens don't express their views or contribute. Giving everyone an equal voice is a simple goal, but it is also elusive. Some people in this town don't want people to ask questions because it requires them to "think" and respond.
