The Hammonton Democratic Party has decided to issue a statement in response to the news that the Kessler Foundation is in need of $2 million to complete its takeover of the hospital. The Hammonton Democrats recognize how important KesslerHospital is to the community of Hammonton and its surrounding areas. Many lives have been saved over the 45 years the hospital has served our town. We can not afford to give up such a valuable resource. As a community we must do everything in our power to insure that we have a facility like Kessler available to our residents. This hospital is also a major employer in our town and we must do all we can to support the employees who have been dedicated to the health and well being of our residents for so many years.
However, the Democrats are urging extreme caution in any efforts to spend taxpayer dollars to bailout KesslerHospital.Should the foundation solicit taxpayer funding, then the Town Council should appoint a neutral, bipartisan commission with healthcare expertise. This commission will be tasked to conduct a Cost-Benefit Analysis of the Towns options in terms of Kessler.Any and all options must be explored to insure the long term availability of a facility such as Kessler to our residents.
The Democrats also are asking that their opponents not play politics with KesslerHospital. The Foundation has made the commitment to take over the Hospital. They need to conduct their planning outside the noise of the local elections. The temptation for all political parties is to prey on the uncertainty of the Town and make empty promises.Such actions are not in the interest of Hammonton.
We need to put aside party politics and come together as one community to find the best possible solution to this most important issue facing our town.
My wife, friends and family -all Proud Democrats -all care about Kessler. The hospital has survived because of our community. It's the working class family that supports Kessler. We all have a stake in this. I'm glad to see that many truly see that the solution is for all to work together.
If the Kessler Foundation is looking raise 2 million dollars in donations, is there any way to protect the donation funding from being lost if the New Kessler hospital cannot stay viable and independent for a specific period of time, lets say 36 months?
If someday the New Kessler owned and operated by the Kessler Foundation does regrettably close and liquidate all assets and there was a net gain from the sale of Kesslers real estate.Who are the actual Kessler Foundation investors that would stand to gain from the sale or future development of the White Horse Pike property?
America is in a healthcare crisis. Republicans in Washington are ignoring it. We need to elect Democrats because quite frankly it really is a matter of life or death. There's absolutely no reason the wealthiest country in the world can't provide a healthcare program for all kids. I've heard how some Republicans say that all kids do have healthcare. No they don't. We need a real healthcare program for our kids. Many working families can't afford the increased costs of healthcare. Hospitals like Kessler are in bankruptcy because of our lack of a national healthcare program for ALL Americans. So if you Support Kessler then you need to vote for Democrats, locally , statewide and nationally.
I have a question for all local council candidates. Do they support increased taxes on the Hammonton taxpayers to subsidize the hospital?
Is this what Hammonton First is recommending for the hospital? I would really like to know how the candidates for town council feel about expanding the local government role in financial support of the troubled hospital?
This would put quite a burden on the local taxpayers.

So you are saying that this is a political issue that people should vote for the Democrats for? You are saying that the Democrats will use tax dollars to help Kessler?
I am not making this a political issue but this REPUBLICAN is not for utilizing local Hammonton taxpayer dollar to subsidize KESSLER HOSPITAL. Are the other hospitals that are in better shape getting local taxpayer dollars to operate?
I agree local support of the hospital is needed but a government bailout is not wise and should be discourage.

No what I'm saying is that continuing to vote for Republicans is making hospitals like Kessler suffer more and more.

The local Democrats have made their statement in regards to Kessler. What is Hammonton First's stance on this? This is a very important issue but mixing politics with the Kessler situation hurts Kessler and Hammonton.

Stop with your lies. Lies like yours are the very reason people have given up on Kessler. The Democrats have made a statement showing how they feel about the situation and how it should not be political. If they had made no statement then you would be bashing the Democrats for saying nothing.

How about this "underconstruction" blank page for Kessler Hospital on the MAYOR's new and improved TOWN Web site for the last 16 months. Selected from main menu list on the town web site Health & Safety / Kessler Memorial Hospital http://www.townofhammonton.org/underconstruction.html Please Check Back Soon We are continuing to update the Web site with new information to better serve you.
Your patience is greatly appreciated.
Nothing There - Another BIG ZERO, from the Mayor on his new improved Town Web site.
The very fact that Hammonton First hasn't filed its campaign finance report makes me think that they are going to spend close to $100,000 on their campaign. That $100,000 could have come in handy towards Kessler. Why would a political party spend based on my estimates close to $250,000 (Quarter of a Million Dollars) for a position that pays NOTHING? I guess they need more time to cook up the books or possibly they have trouble doing math. Of course, they have trouble following the law.

if the hospital shuts down everyone on this site will bash hf for not doing anything. you guys are a joke. without a hospital things look bad for hammonton. but no tax dollars should go there. all three parties should ban together after nov 6 and work to save the hospital.

Hello, just this morning, I saw HF with their truck using Kessler as a political thing. All that the Democrats have stated is that politics should keep out of it and that all things should be considered carefully.

I work at Kessler. Many of us are disgusted by Hammonton First campaigning in our work place with that truck. What next, are they going to put their truck in the middle of the field at half time during a football game.

I think Hammonton First is going to put a banner on town hall just before the election that says "Mission Accomplished." Kind of like how George Bush said Mission Accomplished about the War in Iraq. We're in for more debt, more taxes, more embarrassment.

The foundation is moving forward nicely. They announced they are halfway to their goal of raising $2M in donatons.
