First, we would like to commend Mayor & Council for moving forward on the issue of Grpsy Moth supression for our Town. We all know what a problem they were last year and this year only promises things to get worse unless we act. In the engineer's report there is information regarding the State program and we only hope that Mayor & Council move forward with this plan.

There is no mention, however, anywhere in the agenda to the Solid Waste ordinance that has been the center of much controversy in the last few days. A change to the ordinance was reported in the Press of Atlantic City this week, but it does not appear on the agenda. This may be deliberate on the part of those involved to prevent the public from addressing this issue in the first open public portion of the meeting. As you may know, the first public portion is limited to agenda items only. Since this is not on the agenda, the public will not be permitted to speak on this issue until after the Mayor & Counci already have discussed and acted on it. I remember the last time a Mayor took a vote before listening to the public, it looks like we might be going that way again.

There is also no mention of any ordinance to formally recognize the Airport Committee as a Town Committee. The Ordinance for the Lake Water Quality Advisory Committee is on the agenda for second reading. At the last council meeting the Mayor mentioned that he wanted to move forward with recognizing the Airport Committee, but it is not on the agenda. Hoefully we will hear more about this during the meeting.
