In a special report by the Press of Atlantic City, local governments were tested on their compliance with the Open Public Records Act. The Town of Hammonton and the Hammonton School District did very well in providing the requested information. The only problem in Hammonton was with the Police Dept. which refused to supply the requested information even though according to the law this information is classified as "immediate access" records. We commend both the Town and the School Board for their openess and quick reaction in providing the information. We have always had full cooperation from the Town Clerk's office and the Shool Board when we have requested information. Both offices have always been very cooperative and supplied any requested information as quickly as possible. Apparently we need some clarifications given to the personnell of the Police Dept. to bring them into compliance with the law. To see the Special Report from the Press, click here.
