just a little off topic. the news says the chief is cutting out all of the extra stuff. The school pays the town for the cops. so if the cops aren't there the school will not pay. so then the mayor will ower the police budget. a cop gets laid off? who loses the kids at the school. So I ask what the hell is going on . the police budget has went up every year. did the chief ever think about writting tickets as a revune stream. Just the new cell phone law alone could generate a lot of money. every other town in our area had tax increases and property values decline hammonton has had no increases and are vaulues have stayed even. So i think it is time to make sure all the chickens in the hen house are laying eggs. the threatening of the town with no police service is not good.

If the school is already paying for the two policemen, then the Chief has the money to provide them. Doesn't he understand what he is doing to hurt the kids?

Its' good that the voters are informed on what an ass Costa is.
Pull your head out of your butt. Hammonton is a ticking time bomb and further more reporting the fact it the newspaper that our police department is in adequately staffed and getting worse is like an open invitation to any deviant and/or criminal around to come on over and attack us.
don't start that crap. did anyone ever get attacked at wal mart. Hammonton is a safe place to live.
HELLO? You don't remember the senior citizens that got mugged in the ShopRite parking lot two years ago? Then there were the murders. Let's not forget drunk drivers, illegal immigrants pouring into the town this summer, the mandatory "main street patrols," school violence, and every other problem in town.
Maybe Johnny Dollar DiDonato could have more rental unit inspectors hired instead. And a neighborhood coordinator!

We've been repeatedly told that "It's all Good!" Anyone who disagrees is said to be a naysayer. The truth is that there are many unemployed in Hammonton and that our population is much higher. Crime and public safety are always a top concern to many seniors and working families.
A lot of towns in the area are trying to cut budgets. Egg Harbor and Mullica Twp have already announced they are discussing reducing the costs of the police forces thru consolidation. Lumberton laid off 7 police officers. Buena and Folsom are looking at working with Mullica to reduce costs. Why would the Chief take officers away from the schools when he is already getting paid for them by the schools? He has his funding for that.
Evesham Township is also having layoffs. Maybe it would be better for the Chief to keep the school's money and provide those officers since the school is already providing the funding.

If Evesham is your idea of the model to follow then we should have not gotten rid of MUAC. Plus you don't see to many migrants in Evesham year round. Evesham spends way more per student than Hammonton does on the education of its students. Hammonton is being broken apart and further divided than I've seen in the last 50 years.
ok one mugging two years ago ? what else . who told the newspapers. the chief that's right! Fact is how many tickets do the cops issue. i bet it's a low number. mabe if they crack down on all these phily tags, we could be better off
