Hammonton, New Jersey While the Mayor and Council have ignored requests for information about a multi-million dollar project, the local GOP appears oblivious to the risk that taxpayers face. Democratic Mayoral Candidate Joe Ingemi requested information on the details of the project.Rather than join Mr. Ingemi and his team in a bi-partisan effort to protect taxpayers, the GOP tried to score cheap political points for their faltering campaign.
The local GOP attacked the Mr. Ingemi and his team. The GOP felt that seeking the truth on behalf of taxpayers is simply being negative. The GOP team, through their spokesman, went as far as to falsely claim the Democratic Team was suing the Town.
Mr. Ingemi stated, Words cannot express my disappointment in our Republican counterparts.I always felt that though our party labels differed, we were all committed to lifting the veil of secrecy and to protecting the taxpayer.Based on recent statements, I guess that was a wrong assumption. It is sad to see candidates subscribing to such go-along to get-along attitude when taxpayers are being denied information.I just hope that the GOPs spokesman was speaking only for himself.
The Hammonton Democrats are running this year on a platform that emphasizes economic development, smarter spending and greater government accountability. For more information on the candidates and their platform, visit www.hammontondems.org.
I was saddened too by Torissi's statement. He missed a great opportunity to state that there shouldn't be secrecy in our town government and that the law must be followed. Surely he's seen when Republicans on council weren't given information when they actually had a seat on council. Those councilmen were ineffective on getting answers. This is an important election. Mayor and Council need to be reminded that they work for us. We demand answers and we will not be denied. Open government just doesn't mean having meetings on t.v. Open government means telling the TRUTH, answering questions and making all public records available when asked. I do hope that Torissi is just speaking for himself. I know Marino well and I'd figure him for a guy who is upset by what Torissi said. Marino was on council and saw how they walked all over him. If he wants the mayor's seat, he better show us that he's fired up and upset with Hammonton First. We don't need a mayor who's just going to sit quietly. Even a picture says a thousand words: Quite frankly the picture of him at the Republican HQ looks like a guy who's waiting for a train passenger to give him their ticket. He doesn't look tough enough. Brita looked scary though. She did look mad at something.

It's so nice to see you are changing the subject. You must be a firster who believes that open government involves no talking. How is the recovery relief in Samoa? Let's talk about everything but politics since HF don't want to release public documents or talk about how they want to spend or I mean waste our hard earned tax dollars. SHHH everything with HF is a secret.
