SNOWFALL TOTALS OF 12 TO 18 INCHES ARE EXPECTED NEAR THE DELAWARE AND CENTRAL NEW JERSEY COAST WITH UP TO 22 INCHES POSSIBLE OVER SOUTHERN NEW JERSEY AND THE CENTRAL DELMARVA. STRENGTHENING WINDS TONIGHT AND SATURDAY WILL CREATE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW WHICH WILL REDUCE VISIBILITIES TO UNDER ONE QUARTER OF A MILE AT TIMES.
A BLIZZARD WARNING MEANS SEVERE WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED. FALLING AND BLOWING SNOW WITH STRONG WINDS AND POOR VISIBILITIES ARE LIKELY. THIS WILL LEAD TO WHITEOUT CONDITIONS... MAKING TRAVEL EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS FROM YOUR NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE.
I guess the next big question is, "Is the Hammonton Highway Department ready for this storm?" The Hammonton School district has already prepared their vehicles to clear the lots, they have already contacted outside contractors to assist in removing the snow. The school district is set to do all that is necessary to make the school grounds safe and secure for the students.
Let's hope the Superintendent of Highways, Lance Schiernbeck, is being given all of the tools he needs to make our roads and neighborhoods safe for travel as quickly as possible.

The town doesn't have the supplies and refuses to pay the town employees overtime. So much for John's saving for a rainy (snowy) day! So much for caring about the taxpayers! It's all talk and all an act they could care less about the taxpayers unless they are getting the taxpayers to pay for another one of their silly projects ie: Stockton!

Included below is important information from Atlantic City Electric.
Atlantic City Electric Prepares for Yet Another Weekend Winter Blast
Atlantic City Electric Urges Customers to Begin Preparation Now
Atlantic City Electric is preparing for the second major snowstorm of the season, bringing with it the potential for strong winds and significant snow accumulations. Heavy, wet snow and strong winds could bring down tree limbs onto wires, resulting in power outages. Outages can also occur due to drivers skidding into utility poles during storms. The company also has scheduled extra crews and customer care personnel to work through the weekend.
If Power Goes Out
Customers are asked to call Atlantic City Electricat1-800-833-7476to report outages even if their neighbors may have already called. Atlantic City Electrics automated outage reporting system is the most effective way to report an outage because it immediately feeds information into computers that rapidly identify problem areas and dispatch repair crews, so that power can be restored as quickly as possible.
Atlantic City Electric strongly urges everyone to follow these important safety tips:
·Stay away from downed lines and report them immediately by calling 1-800-833-7476.
·Never attempt to remove trees or limbs from any utility line. Assume all objects touching a power line are energized.
·If using a portable generator during a power outage, always operate it outside. Do not operate a portable generator near doors, windows or in garages to prevent deadly carbon monoxide from entering the house.
Atlantic City Electric urges customers to stay safe and be prepared. Here are some additional tips:
·Assemble an emergency storm kit. Include a battery-powered radio or television, flashlight, first-aid kit, battery-powered or windup clock, extra batteries, non-perishable food, manual can opener, bottled water, any necessary medications, and a list of emergency phone numbers.
·Maintain a supply of extra blankets.
·Ensure that all household members have a warm coat, gloves, hat and water-resistant boots.
·Make sure your home has a telephone with a cord or cell phone to use as a backup. Cordless telephones require electricity to operate, and wont work if there is an outage.
·Identify a place for emergency shelter in case of an extended outage. It is important that customers with special needs or their caregivers take responsibility to make arrangements ahead of time to prepare for potentially long-lasting service interruptions.
BLIZZARD-LIKE CONDITIONS WITH MAJOR STORM...THERE HAS BEEN A BIT OF A SLOWING WITH THE STORM AND START TIMES HAVE BEEN PUSHED BACK A BIT, PLUS A LIGHT EASTERLY WIND LIKELY STARTS THE PRECIP AS A RAIN/SNOW MIX. EVEN MORE INTENSE BANDING IS POSSIBLE TOMORROW AM AND SOME 2-3"/HR BANDS COULD DEVELOP. SNOW WILL BE HEAVY AND WET WITH HIGH WATER CONTENT AND MACHINES MAY HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE EXCESSIVE SNOW. INC. WINDS ARE LIGHT TODAY/EVENING, BUT THEY PICK UP AFTER MIDNIGHT AND WILL REDUCE VISIBILITY AND CREATED SIGNIFICANT BLOWING/DRIFTING. SNOW IS STILL FALLING STEADILY TOMORROW MORNING BEFORE GRADUALLY DIMINISHING AND ENDING IN THE AFTERNOON.

Why is this very pertinent information not posted on the Town Website? Residents should not have to go to the Democratic Website to get this info. All that the Town website has posted is information about Stockton.
Steve,
If you are reading this...do something useful. Update the Town website with emergency information.
Like the graphics. Great idea getting this out to the public but I have to wonder why it is not on channel 9, public information station. We are ready for the snow, food, snow blower, etc. but not mentally. Hate snow and cannot stand it anymore. Do not look forward to being housebound with kids and then having to deal with all the leftover crap next week while driving around. Keep safe everyone.
Residents Urged to Prepare for Blizzard and Remove Parked Cars from Roadways
The Atlantic County Office of Emergency Preparedness is urging residents not to park their vehicles along snow emergency routes and to prepare for potential power outages that may occur as a result of a paralyzing winter storm that is expected to produce 1-2 feet of snow accumulation, strong winds and coastal flooding.
A blizzard warning remains in effect for Atlantic County from 4 PM on Friday, February 5 through 7 PM on Saturday, February 6. Strengthening winds will create blowing and drifting snow which will reduce visibility and cause white-out conditions, making travel extremely dangerous.
The heaviest snow is expected between 10 PM this evening through noon on Saturday. Snowfall rates of one to two inches per hour are possible during the height of the storm. This, along with strong winds, will aggravate snow clearing operations. Residents should remove parked cars from roadways to assist plowing efforts.
Residents should also have disaster supplies on hand including batteries, flashlights, a first aid kit, non-perishable food items, an ample supply of medications, baby and pet supplies, etc.
Emergency preparedness officials encourage residents to monitor media outlets for storm updates and heed the advice of officials.
Updates will be available on the Atlantic County Web site at www.aclink.org throughout the storm. Residents may also visit the site to obtain more information about winter storm preparations as well as winter driving tips.

It's not posted on channel 9 or the town's website because those HF elites don't give a crap about the people of this community. When are Hammontians going to realize that? They have never cared they only care about the projects that benefit them DAH. They could have used the Senior center as a shelter for those who have no where to go only it's so far off the beat and path they won't even plow there. During this storm everyone needs to remember to help those in need and especially the elderly who live alone. The people of this great town will pull together to help one another we don't need Hammonton First! Good luck and stay safe!
(1) Whenever snow has fallen and the accumulation is such that it covers the street or highway, no vehicle shall be parked on any street or highway within the Town of Hammonton.
(2) The above parking prohibition shall remain in effect until after the snow has ceased and until the streets have been plowed sufficiently so that parking will not interfere with the normal flow of traffic.
B. Removal of vehicles. Any unoccupied vehicle parked or standing in violation of this section shall be deemed a nuisance and a menace to the safe and proper regulation of traffic, and any police officer may provide for the removal of such vehicle. The owner shall pay the reasonable costs of removal and storage which may result from such removal, before regaining possession of the vehicle.
C. Violations and penalties. Any person who shall violate any provision of this section, for each offense, shall be subject to any or more of the following: A fine of not more than $500; community service for up to 10 hours.
Editor's Note: Former § 271-208, Parking-meter zones established, which immediately followed this section, was repealed 7-9-1984 by Ord. No. 14-1984.
The people in Hammonton are very intelligent and are probably prepared to stay at home for a couple of days to wait out this storm.
We as residents should also be prepared to help our town employees by staying home while our road department clear the roads.
I am very glad that everyone on this website will be out helping our neighbors, families and friends instead on whining and complaining about what the town should be doing for me.
Some people in town will spend the whole storm complaining, posting on this blog, and they will try to stir the pot about how poorly the roads are being cleared, my road needs to be plowed, etc. etc. etc.
This blog provides these residents a place to complain and ridicule our town employees.

Maybe someone at the school can redirect some of these assets to help clear the roads for our seniors since the schools will be closed this weekend. It would be nice if everyone can work together since the locals residents pay all of taxes in support of the town and the local schools.

It is sometimes unfortunate that there are those who only use this blog to complain and ridicule. I would prefer that this site be used to foster productive discussions about our town and collectively provide solutions and ideas for the betterment of our town and our government. While I do my very best not to censor comments, to allow free expression of thought, and yes sometimes even a place to vent, it is frustrating to me how beligerent and dimeening people can get. Having said that, there are those who do come here for legitimate discussion and idea exchange. Most of the comments on this thread show that spirit of cooperation and exchange. I will endeavor to post any updated information I receive concerning this storm as soon as I can.

People are not complaining about our town employees who are working with very limited funds and short staffed. However, we are complaining about how poorly our elected officials are running this town into the ground because of their greed and selfishness. When the Dems and Reps were in office this never occurred because we were as one now their are two groups in town the wealthy HF who get everything and the rest of us who get nothing. The taxpayers didn't do this HF did because of their arrogance. I'm surprised they aren't asking for volunteers to plow the snow so then when the snow is gone they can harass them. Use, abuse and discard. Sorry admin I have no respect for those people because they are evil! Do you ever see them voluntering to help anyone? I'm a better person then they are so I will be out helping people for the next two days!

Gee, let me guess who you are. I bet your last name starts with a D. You are no John Kennedy! When you pay high taxes and get nothing in return yes we want something for our money especially when dealing with safety issues. We are paying high taxes and it seems as though you are getting everything you want with our money. Example: your downtown properties renovated, water and sewer to the bowling alley, bringing Stockton to Hammonton to patronize your businesses downtown, plus your collecting a salary made up of our hard earned tax dollars. Do you really need the money? Since you say the town should not do anything for the taxpayers then why do you call the town employees for every little thing. I noticed when the tree fell on Tilton St. most people would have had to call a tree company to remove it. Instead you know who had the town do it for nothing. You should stop calling the town employees for every little thing and instead do it yourself and do more for the town. Volunteer your time for the betterment of our community.

...MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOW CONTINUES TO OVERSPREAD THE REGION...
AT 7:42 PM, NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR AND SURFACE REPORTS INDICATED A BAND OF MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOW EXTENDED FROM WESTERN BERKS COUNTY IN PENNSYLVANIA TO NEAR PHILADELPHIA THEN ACROSS SOUTHERN NEW JERSEY. THE VISIBILITY WILL QUICKLY LOWER TO ONE HALF TO EVEN ONE QUARTER OF A MILE AT TIMES AS THIS BAND OF SNOW MOVES THROUGH. IN ADDITION, A QUICK INCH OR TWO OF SNOW WILL TEND TO OCCUR AS THIS FEATURE MOVES THROUGH.
IF YOU NEED TO TRAVEL THIS EVENING, BE PREPARED FOR A RAPID CHANGE IN ROAD CONDITIONS AS WELL AS VISIBILITIES. ROADS THAT ARE INITIALLY WET, WILL BECOME SNOW COVERED AS THE INTENSITY OF THE SNOW INCREASES. THE CONDITIONS AREA EXPECTED TO WORSEN THROUGH THE NIGHT.
Just came in from driving in a four wheel drive truck. Have to drive slow but very slippery when trying to stop. Not worth going out it's getting really bad out. The snow is wet and heavy and with temperatures dropping it will be icing over. Hopefully the weight of the snow won't cause power outages or down trees and the high winds tomorrow won't help matters. Be careful and be safe.
I remember years ago when Russell Clark served on council during a snow storm he would jump behind the wheel and start plowing. He worked side by side with the highway dept. he never considered himself above them but equal to them. If the Dems or Reps were in office I too would volunteer my time to plow the snow. Since HF is in office I would never consider volunteering since they don't lead by example.

Town roads looking pretty good but the county roads are still bad. Guess the local team did okay.

In other words stay off the roads. You don't need to go to WaWa for coffee or to the bar to hang out with friends. Get off the roads and stay off the roads. I'm amazed at my own friends that are so oblivious and selfish being out on the roads today because "they're bored." Clean you houses, bake cookies or heaven forbid pay attention to your kids for the weekend.
the town did my street GREAT.. It look's like they are trying this time. But were will we be with $$$$. Who is going to get laid off becuase of this strom??? It is a sham that the town is in bad shape.
Besides Lance and I really do not know much about Mr.DeCicco(which is usually good) Who of the town leaders lead by example.Leaders meaning the people who give orders and demand respect.Who think the town should look up to them. People act like town employees and town volunteers are to be held to higher standards because they work for Hammonton. I heard a patrolman at a party get loud about a leader in a volunteer dept. and what a disgrace he was for something he did, yet the patrolman has a superior who did the same thing longer and much worse and that man still demands respect from his men.

Sorry had to vent.
Very well said! You are 100% right so keep venting! While I was digging out today I saw many people drive by and talking on their cell phones while driving. They just don't get it. Wasn't everything closed anyway so why go out? Amazing isn't it?

Uh I was referring to Mayor and Council when saying they should lead by example. They have a pattern of using, abusing and discarding people when they are done with them. They treat everyone as peasant people as if we are the impoverished and we should be greatfull they are in office and we should not expect anything from them since they haven't raised taxes and we should volunteer our time so they can lay off more employees so they can create more projects that benefit only them. I think the people in this town need to open their eyes and start seeing what's really going on and start asking questions before it's too late. As far as dept heads some are good and some are bad but again you must blame Mayor and Council for that!!!!
Mayor Nutter in Philadelphia is helping people dig out. Do you think any of Hammonton First is out helping people dig out? Ha Ha Ha I'm surprised they didn't ask for volunteers to dig them out!
the town did my street GREAT.. It look's like they are trying this time. But were will we be with $$$$. Who is going to get laid off becuase of this strom??? It is a sham that the town is in bad shape.
You know there are town employees that say they work 24/7 and get paid well to do it maybe in times like these it would be a good time to show it.
Just road around town a little and roads seem to be in good shape. Congratulations and thanks to Lance and his crew for a job well done. Thank you to Mayor & Council for giving the Highway Department the tools and manpower it needed to get this job done.
I have to admit that Mayor Steve has done a better job than his brother. The streets look good. I guess he realizes that as long as you have town employees who are treated fairly and allow them to do the job in which they were hired for, everyone ends up safe and happy. I just hope Steve doesn't let the D brothers tell him what to do and if he can keep them out of the loop then our town will get better and better. Come on Steve show us that you can be nice, fair and respect the people who put you in office. Remember the nicer you are the more people will like you!!!!
Eww what did he do for you???? As far as the roads being plowing he only did what previous mayors (except his brother) have done. So you're saying all Mayors of Hammonton are your heroes?
