Hammonton Lake Park The Gift that keeps on giving....

This is in this month's Council Agenda about the Hammonton Lake Park Project (the project that led to the removal of all of those trees):

Phase I Construction:

As requested we have met with the Contractor to discuss the costs provided for the extra work requested and completed at the Lake Park site.  At this time, the Contractor revised costs have been reviewed and recommended for Councils consideration for the final change order.  Ultimately there is an $11,942.55 increase in the original Contract cost due to extra work requested.  This is a 2.58% increase to the original Contract, which will have a final value of $475,559.50.  The original request from the Contractor was $15,201.50 with a final adjusted cost of $11,942.55, yielding a $3,805.91 decrease to the original Contractors request.  Please note there is not a final payment request in for consideration as of this writing only the change order request.  There are a few minor punch list items still outstanding.  Once these items are completed, we can work to close out the contract and requisition the $400,000 grant from Atlantic County.

            Action Requested:

Adopt a resolution to approve the change order request and increase the Contract with Highway Safety Systems by $11,942.55 for extra work performed as detailed

What is this saying...
-The project went over budget by about $12K.
-the total project cost is $475,559.50 with the intent that the County gives us $400K.
Remember $80,000 means about 1 cent on your taxes so even if we are fully funded by the county, one cent of your taxes are going to the Lake project.   Also, $80,000 could be the annual salary/compensation of a police officer.
AND WAIT FOR IT....
-We have not even requisitioned the $400K from the County.  In this tough times, there is a possibility the request will be turned down!!!! So taxpayers could be on the hook for almost half a million dollars for project referred to as the mistake by the lake.

All B/S.     This is why they closed the lake to swimming.  Johnny D's Folly. Get him to pay for it. He certainly has plenty.

The Hammonton Lake Massacre was a result of HF trying to appease to Seniors who vote blindly.

Do you think the Gazette will print anything about this change order??? They used alot of ink to embarrass certain members of the school board for change orders to take care of such "silly" things as asbestos removal.

We probably hear as much about this as we did about the change orders at the Canoe Club.  Does anyone at the Gazette realize how little the town thinks of the paper?  People read it for the same reason they slow down by a car accident.

This fee you are talking about is only for the paving. This is just some costs for the building etc.

10/2008 meeting minutes Bid Results Senior Center Base Alternate
Ron Sirolli Construction $ 765,400.00 $ 2,600.00
JTS Custom Bldg $ 989,450.00 $42,000.00
**Joseph Porretta $ 862,500.00 $13,500.00 - AWARDED THE BID
Martell Construction $1,067,000.00 $64,000.00
I&J Builders $1,225,432.50 $40,000.00

Then we have this from the meeting minutes -  Approve Change Order/Joseph Porretta Builders-Senior/Rec Center
Motion by Councilperson Barberio, seconded by Councilperson Lewis, approve change order for Porretta
Builders-Senior/Rec Center:
Total Additions - $19,334.32
Total Deductions - $25,483.10
Total Credit to Date - $6,148.78
Additional Funding Needed for Project - $11,642.76 for deck safety upgrades

Then we have these:

2/2009 minutes Motion by Councilperson Barberio, seconded by Councilperson Wuillermin, authorize ARH proposal for Hammonton Lake Park project in amount of $13,500.00.

4/2009 minutes Motion by Councilperson Barberio, seconded by Councilperson Petrongolo, approve ARH proposal dated 3/30/09, copy attached, totaling $2,100.00 to complete the work required by the NJDEP related to the three (3) wells at the Hammonton Lake Park, and issuance of a purchase order for same.

Motion by Councilperson Wuillermin, seconded by Councilperson Barberio, approve revised ARH proposal
dated 5/19/09 for a total cost of $1,350.00 in order to respond to the Pinelands Commission request to obtain a demolition permit. Councilman Bertino wanted to clarify we are revising original application to include demolition of building.

This is just careless and wreckless planning and use of taxpayer money!

So how many millions did this senseless project cost the taxpayers. Wasn't this suppose to be in the 5.9 with town hall included? Oh and that went way over budget. It's amazing how there are no accurate calculation of figures available for either project. What ever happened to open government? I just can't believe how they just waste money. This Stockton project is just a disaster waiting to happen.

At tonight's council meeting I wonder if Hammonton First will apply for a permit to tear down the old lake house? Why are they still applying for the permit when the building has been torn down almost a year ago? Oh and I heard the Seniors will not go there they are still going to the fire house. That really ticks me off since the taxpayers had to spend 1.5 million for this project and they refuse to go there. Why didn't they ask the seniors before spending all this money for no reason?? Come on HF we are in a economy crises stop spending money foolishly!

I am shocked that councilman Barberio voted no for the over $11,000. worth of change orders for the lake project. I wonder if his high paying county job will be in jeopardy since he went against the people who got him his county job in the first place. I wonder what his punishment will be?
