I just read the Hammonton News article about Stockton.  http://www.thedailyjournal.com/article/20100224/HAMMONTON01/2240305/Stockton+and+town+close+to+pact+for+local+college+campus

I found this interesting.  The Mayor will sign a Memorandum of Understanding as early as this week but the plan will not be unveiled until the next Council Meeting.

If this plan is not costing us anything and you have nothing to hide why not unveil the Memorandum of Understanding for public scrutiny and receive public comment.  Then, if a consensus is met, then sign the agreement.

Many moons ago, during the Town Hall debate, there was a special meeting to in Feb 2005 to make a final determination on site location.  Council voted on it and then opened up to public comment.  There was outrage.  The Gazette ran cartoons about it. And HF was born out of this.

Now, HF is doing the same thing.  How's that for irony?

Councilwomen Lewis who works for Stockton is quick to offer free classes for the senior citizens at the Library not the Canoe Club. In past years Lewis was quick to offer senior discount cards that serve no purpose and now that the senior's will have to foot the bill for a satellite campus councilwomen Lewis is silent. How can this be allowed when she works for Stockton? This is a major conflict of interest! Where is the AC Press how come they aren't reporting on this??????

Let's be realistic. How many seniors do you know who were interested in these classes before the D brothers wanted Stockton here? All of a sudden my parents need college courses?come on don't insult us.

Why is there a problem with the Lake Park? What did the council vote on to upset so many seniors?

The Canoe Club cost taxpayers 1.5 million, they never got the grant money as they promised and they won't let anyone use it. Something is up but mayor and council are not talking. We should know what's going on down there.

This entire Stockton project is very unclear. The real reason will never be made public because it's not about education.  It's true HF talks out of both sides of their mouths. The school(taxpayers) will pay for teachers to get a higher education so that they can make more money - Right? Does the town pay for the employees to get a higher education so they can make more money - Don't think so! Teachers are compensated based on the level of their college degrees. Town workers are not compensated on the level of their college degrees. So... does HF support higher education or not? Since the Gazette is against gov't workers receiving a salary, benefits and pensions is he also against teachers who get the same? If he is against teachers then is he against higher education too? Do they support higher education or not? What is the story here?

If Stockton changed their mind and had us pay for them to come to the WHP, you'd read on the front page of the HG that we were being fleeced but since it benefits the HF corporation they just ignore their duties as journalist and promote how this will benefit us all.  How does Stockton benefit me downtown? I hate the downtown shops, they don't cater to me.  I shopped downtown All the Time until a few years ago.  To me downtown is such a facade.

I agree with you! I always shopped downtown for years. Since HF took it upon themselves to use our tax dollars to renovate the downtown owned by them I refuse to shop downtown. I will not spend 50 cents in any of those stores. Now that Stockton is being shoved down our throats I will travel 50 miles before I spend any money downtown. They pushed to hard to fast and now people are starting to push back! Oh well - I guess they need to realize that being in politics doesn't mean it's all about them!

HF and the HG, synonymous, forgot that in good times and in bad that it will locals that help businesses.  They tried to create Hammonton into some fancy artsy, fartsy elite hangout when Hammonton is a working class town.
