It seems that Stockton will be taking a big hit in funding from the state.

http://www.nbc40.net/view_story.php?id=12575

It makes us wonder how they can afford to pay the "rent" that Mr. Howell says the Town will charge the college to pay for fixing up the building.

Also, interesting to note that there is no discussion of Stockon listed on next week's Council agenda.

Maybe if Town Council really wants Stockton here, they should reconsider using the High School.  Think of the money we'd save not paying the lobbyist or the solicitor or the engineer for this project.  We still do not know how much the state will be cutting the town in aid.

As a taxpayer, I do not want Stockton in our public school. If someone wants to attend Stockton, let them drive down the Pike to get there. Our public schools are for our children, not for college students. I don't care who they are or where they live, go to the campus like I did. Do not ruin our public schools with all this increased foot traffic. Why should any of our public schools be turned into a college campus?

Yeah, let's not put a public college that we support with our tax dollars in a public school that we also pay for with our taxes. What a ridiculous idea. If we did such a foolish thing we would save ourselves over $5 million dollars plus interest for the campus they are intent on building for the college. Or by putting it here in Hammonton we would save some of our taxpayers the travel expenses of going to the main campus, again a foolish idea. We built our school to be empty 17 hours a day, not to be used to further the taxpayers education.
So let's all agree not to do this the free way, let's do it the Hammonton First way!!! Let's spend $5 million of the taxpayers dollars to remodel a building and we'll just put it on the credit card like all of the other projects we have done in the last few years.

Well said. Just goes to show how stupid people really are. They would rather pay 5 million for a new campus for Stockton then to let them use the high school for free. This is how HF got elected - by stupidity.

Ask yourself in all the years you lived in Hammonton, when did you ever think to put Stockton in the high school?  Why now is this so friggen important. How many schools do you know of that are used while school is not in session? Schools have always been empty when school is closed for a reason. They will get ruined. If you want to go to Stockton, then go. Get in your car and drive the 20 minutes. Are you seriously that lazy. Just pretend you are driving to the mall or just driving around. Everyone has gas money for that. Boo Hoo. What would happen if you actually went to a college out of state? Mon Dieu, the expense. The drive time you save is going to cost big bucks in state tax dollars that you are really going to see increase. Or don't you pay state tax?

You are totally missing the point here. It's not the taxpayers that want Stockton here it's HF! HF wants a 5 million dollar downtown campus to increase their property value of the buildings they own downtown. Only one problem they want the taxpayers to foot the bill not Stockton. What everyone is saying is that if they need Stockton in Hammonton so bad then let them use the high school at night. Stockton is a state college funded by taxpayers our high school is funded by taxpayers there is no need for us to put out 5 million dollars when we have nothing to gain from it. Get it yet? Also ACCC held classes in our middle school about 12 years ago and had to cancel many because of low enrollment. ACCC has always used high schools as satellite campuses. I'm not sure if Stockton or other colleges have done the same. Also Rutgers uses ACCC campus in Mays Landing. It's a good thing to save money and use these facilities for what they were intended. It's called shared expenses which saves money. I guess you have a ton of money that you need to spend foolishly if that's the case then put up the 5 mill for Stockton and save the taxpayers all that grief.

The reason Stockton is going away is the same reason Kessler went away.  GREED. GREED. GREED.  This was always about making money for a "few."  It was never about anything for the people.  They wanted US to pay for Stockton to come when there was a good solution to have them use our schools at night.  If Stockton wants to use THEIR own money then THEY should without us having to hire lobbyists, using an of our tax dollars and future grants to be later allocated toward Stockton.  We've already spent millions downtown with our tax dollars and grants.  It's about time I and all my NEIGHBORS start to see the benefits.  Fix my street, solve the flooding problems.  Fix that F^*&ind Dip on the way to my Grandomom's house on Grape Street.
