If the teachers are willing to work for the same amount of pay this coming year, the extra money can be used by the school to keep programs going for the students.

The news media has reported that teachers in several districts, including in West Essex, Boonton, Montclair and Metuchen have already voluntarily offered to freeze wages.  It looks like the decision to take the salary freeze to save jobs is something local the school teachers are free to do if they wish.
