Remington & Vernick Engineers have already stated that the project can't be built for the budgeted $4.8 million, Click here for that story.
Do you think Mayor and Council are in for a surprise when these bids are opened?
I think the mayor and council already now that $5.9 will not cover the town hall and the community center. I've heard that they are playing damage control now and are saying that it will come under $10M or that it will come cheaper then their estimates of the 11th street site. No matter what they won't be keeping their campaign promise of building the town hall, moving the old town hall and building a community center for $5.9M.
Why did the Republican Club have a meeting last night that very few knew of? Why was it not advertized on the Republican blog (http://myhammonton.com/blog)? What was discussed in that meeting? Are they going to let the Democrats have any committee seats, as was demanded on this site?
The former Republican administration had signed paperwork that they were going to spend $9.3M on construction only. It is a good thing we didn't let them spend all our money. If we did the town would be as screwed up as the school now is.
The town will save millions with the building over at Central & Vine, where everybody wanted it.
We have to unite to stop years of Republican incompetence.
I call on all residents of Hammonton to vote Democrat next year. We need to turn Hammonton blue. We need to be strong to defeat all Republicans. Reguar Republicans and Hammonton First Rich Republicans. This is a working class town. We need working class representatives. All Firsters come to the next Democratic meeting and join our club. We are the Next Generation of Democrats.
I have a feeling that the Central and Vine street project will cost closer, if not over, the $9.3 mill that the republicans wanted, and by the way, the last time I checked the majority of people in town DID NOT want town hall at central and vine for obvious reasons (parking, congestion, cost, etc.)
We will see the price of the Hammonton First Mistakes, and Republican inaction very soon.
